A Korean-NGO delegation entitled Good Neighbors International (GNI) just paid a visit to Tuyen Quang, focusing on reinforcing its long-term commitment to community development projects even as the province undergoes a dramatic administrative restructuring.

The GNI delegation, led by outgoing Country Director Mr. Park Dong Chul, emphasized the continuity of the mission. The visit included reviewing plans for 2026 and introducing the newly appointed Country Director, Mr. Cho EunSeung, highlighting the organization's dedication to vulnerable communities in the northern mountainous region.

During the working session, Mr. Nguyen Trung Thu, Director of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude for GNI's projects, which he praised as "effective and sustainable." He specifically called on the new Country Director, Mr. Cho EunSeung, to prioritize economic and social programs focused on improving the conditions for women, children, and ethnic minorities in the province’s most disadvantaged areas.

Outgoing Director Mr. Park Dong Chul detailed GNI’s extensive history, noting the organization is a humanitarian NGO operating in 50 countries globally. GNI’s work in Viet Nam has benefited over 200,000 local residents across 26 provinces, with core activities focusing on child protection, healthcare, clean water, and livelihood development.

GNI's current work in Tuyen Quang is centered on two major development initiatives: The projects were originally implemented across five communes in Quang Binh District and eight communes in Son Duong District, with the respective District People's Committees serving as the project owners. Following the administrative reorganization which transitioned the local government to a two-tier model (abolishing the district-level governance), the projects are now continuing in the nine consolidated communes (Yen Thanh, Bang Lang, Tan Trinh, Son Thuy, Tan Thanh, Hong Son, Truong Sinh, Dong Tho, Phu Luong).

GNI and Tuyen Quang leaders agreed to accelerate efforts to ensure the future of the projects in the nine affected communes. This agreement signals their ability to successfully adapt to the structural changes, guaranteeing that critical funding and support continue to reach the communities that need it most.

This reaffirmed the essential role of Korean humanitarian aid amidst Vietnam's fast-paced development landscape, even amidst large-scale institutional shifts.
